Ally Taylor

Alberta Party

Ally Kunyi-Taylor is a passionate and proud Albertan, who works hard to enrich the lives of all those around her.   Ally’s drive to positively impact others spans beyond her career and into the community. She has gained municipal experience as a member of the finance advisory board with the City of Airdrie Council. She has also served on the board of directors for the Calgary Immigrants Woman’s Association (CIWA) as an operations and planning consultant. Her dedication to the community and her fellow Albertans has been a priority since her family relocated to the province in 1988 from Winnipeg. Ally is known as an executor and a motivator of others. Her ability to relate to others, and inspire them to reach for their potential is unparalleled.

A career mother herself, Ally spends time not only at home with her three young children but also on the road as head of operations for western Canada in the financial industry. Her approach to leadership is one of motivation and empowering. Listening, processing and working together as a team, Ally’s leadership philosophy can be summed up in three words “Best Idea Wins”. Meaning, everyone must be open to suggestion, hearing ideas, working together, being ok with disagreement and determining what makes sense for the cause.

Ally also makes time to volunteer with children. She is currently a Beaver Scouter and a member of the Scouts Committee in her community serving as registrar and group administrator.

Ally has a very competitive instinct as well. Through her childhood sport of fastball, Ally was awarded an athletic scholarship to Jamestown College in North Dakota where she studied Business Admin. She was shortlisted as a member of the 2000 Canadian Olympic Fastball team during this time. Upon her return to Canada, she enrolled at SAIT Polytechnic where she completed Journalism Arts and was awarded a top practicum assignment with both the Edmonton and Calgary Sun publications where she worked as a hard news writer.

Ally currently works as a regional director for western Canada with a financial technology company where she oversees 53 branches and over 300 employees. She is proud to know each one of her team members personally and in-depth including all those at her two locations in Lethbridge. Her passion for business and the economy is infectious and she has many ideas on how to impact a positive, necessary change.

Main Priorities:

  • Ensure early childhood education is an option for all Albertans
  • Address the price of childcare and early childhood education
  • A parent should not have to choose between a career and parenting because they cannot find safe, regulated affordable childcare.
