Art Alive and Well in Southern Alberta

May 30, 2019

Southern Alberta Art Gallery is currently displaying around 300 exhibits created exclusively by students.

The walls on their gallery are covered with the pieces designed by Kindergarten through Grade 12 students from Lethbridge School District No. 51.

According to Emily Promise Allison of SAAG, this is a great way to celebrate some of the outstanding talent in our community.

"There's a little bit of magic in every single piece that's in here."

She says in particular many of the high school pieces are stellar.

"They're really amazing because they're really trying to focus in on what their passions are. Especially at that time in your life. You remember when you were in high school and how art provided you a sort of solace from life and changes and from everything else that's going on with your friends and family. So it's really nice to have a collection in one room that's so full of emotion," she says.

SAAG will also be holding a number of summer art camps for children ages six through 10 beginning in July.
