Childcare centres to open with assistance from government

May 7, 2020

Close to $18 million in grants will be provided for child care centres and approved family day home agencies in Alberta.

The funds are to ensure that both groups are ready to safely restart and support families through Alberta's economic recovery. Assistant Director at Narnia Childcare Centre in Lethbridge says they are excited to get things up and running again.

"We are a small business so to get things up and running again — all of the costs and expectations that we have to be (paying) for things like that. It's important that we get that money".

All reopened childcare centres in Alberta will receive a $500 one-time grant for personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning supplies.
