Cold weather and frost causes multiple watermain breaks across the city

March 4, 2019

Crews are working on numerous watermain repairs across the city caused by the recent cold weather and frost.

Due to the unusual volume of watermain breaks over the weekend, some residents are without water.

Where possible, the City will supply a truck with temporary potable water.

Crews are working as fast they can to repair the watermains and return water to the affected homes.

The following areas have been impacted:

·         12 Ave. S. from the 15 St. S. to 17 St. S.

·         1200 block between 9A Ave. S. to 9 Ave. S.

·         1100 block of 29 St. S.

·         2100 block of Dieppe Blvd. S.

·         7 Ave. N. to 8 Ave. N. from the 2200 block to the 2300 block

·         500 block of 30 St. N.

There may be lane reductions and road closures in some of these areas. Motorists are advised to drive with caution and follow posted detours.

Crews previously working on the watermain break in the 1300 block of 2 Avenue North have been moved to the emergency repairs listed above.

Repairs are prioritized based on the severity of the watermain break and the number of residents without water. As such, this road closure will remain in place until further notice.

Residents are thanked for their patience as crews work to keep up with repairs in such extreme temperatures.
