Conference Covers Opioid Crisis and Cannabis

November 22, 2018

Coinciding with National Addictions Awareness Week, the Community Substance Abuse Resource Team of Lethbridge held their annual conference today. Morning sessions focused on grief and loss as it relates to addiction, and the afternoon agenda was to create healthy dialogue strategies around cannabis consumption.

With May being the month of Sexual Violence Awareness, Lethbridge College brought in a speaker from Edmonton to educate the Sexual Violence Action Committee on ways to support victims of workplace harassment.

"Really, we just need to start from a place of believing people who come fourth with allegations of sexual harassment—it's the first step. When we act with disbelief, we make people feel unsupported, and unwilling to share more about what happened," says Sexual Violence Prevention educator Derek Warick

According to Canadian Business, 43 percent of women and 12 percent of men say they have been harassed at work.
