Deanna Dotts reveals pain of losing mother to pancreatic cancer

March 15, 2019

Deanna Dotts opens up about the loss she still feels after losing her mother to pancreatic cancer 3 years ago, especially after hearing about Alex Trebek's diagnosis.

"There has been no bigger impact in my life than the death of my mother," Dotts shared. Her mother, Donna, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October 2015 and passed away in February 2016.

Three years later, Deanna is married, and is now the women's basketball coach for Lethbridge College, but her accomplishments will never be able to diminish the absence of her mother.

Deanna said, "You don't really know the effects of losing someone. They are daily and continue to have an effect and manifest over time in a way you don't expect them to."

Deanna hopes Alex Trebek, the longtime Jeopardy host, will beat pancreatic cancer and help change the statistics of the illness.
