Efforts still underway to remove Ice Explorer vehicle from Columbia Icefields.

July 20, 2020

As this investigation into this tragedy continues, RCMP say it may take several days to remove the vehicle as it's a large undertaking due to the challenges involved with the area where it came to rest. The RCMP must also protect the physical integrity of the vehicle pending its examination as part of this investigation.

Authorities are unable to confirm the cause of the rollover, however, RCMP Collision Reconstructionists were able to confirm that there is no evidence that a rock slide precipitated the incident.
The victims of this fatality are a 24-year-old woman from Canoe Narrows, Sask.; a 28-year-old woman from Edmonton; and a 58-year-old man from India.

As of late yesterday, RCMP were able to confirm of the remaining occupants who were critically injured, only four were still considered to be in critical but in stable condition. One occupant was in serious but stable condition.

Anyone with information about the rollover, please call the Jasper RCMP Detachment at 780-852-3883.
