Recently the government allocated $252 million to the agriculture sector. The Southern Alberta Council of Public Affairs heard from one expert about the importance of maintaining our food supply.
"Probably for the very first time during a crisis that I've seen a Canadian government recognizing that processing needs help. Without processing you don't really have much of a value chain, you don't have much of a food industry. Because our food processing sector is somewhat anemic, farmers are paying for that," says food distribution, security and safety expert Dr. Sylvain Charlebois.
