Happy birthday to you, are you one, are you two, are you... 116?

March 9, 2019

The oldest living woman was celebrated today by the Guinness Book of World Records, at 116 years and 66 days old.

Kane Tanaka from Fukuoka, Japan, was born in 1903, living through both world wars - and even the invention of the powered airplane.

Tanaka enjoys chocolate, studying mathematics, and is usually awake at 6 a.m.

She is only six years shy of the record for oldest person ever, held by Jeanne Calment of France who reached 122 years old.

The title for oldest living man is under investigation.
