Historic Vision Restored for North Lethbridge

August 23, 2018

The Burgman Block has received it's status as a municipal historic resource, Josee Foster reports.

In the early 1900s, Richard Burgman of Ontario settled in Lethbridge as a bricklayer. One of his first buildings was 418 13th Street N, which stands today as a three-level brick building, home to Jonny Bean Coffee, Underground Escape Rooms and Designed to Dwell's interior design office and event rental space. This historic building known as the Burgman Block has served North Lethbridge over the years as a drug store, community gathering space for dances, games nights and recitals, and more recently a Taekwondo academy. Monday's city council meeting saw the second and third reading of a bill that will change the status of this building from a revitalized community hub to an official historic resource in this Southern Albertan city.
