Walter Reich plans on cycling 100 KM a day from Vancouver Island to the Maritimes. The seventy year old is hoping to raise money for Parkinson’s disease. So far, he’s been successful, but southern Alberta winds have presented some challenges.
“Normally you have back wind, but not yesterday. The day before from Sparwood to Pincher Creek I had wind all the way, and that was tough. Even the terrain wasn’t that bad, but the wind was really brutal,” says Reich
“The wind and the cold (have) not impressed us. Since we are on the road we have frozen more than we have sweat,” added Walter’s wife Regula
Walter and his wife Regula owned a hotel and restaurant in Magnetewan Ontario, but sold it to finally pursue a Canadian adventure and raise $50,000 for Parkinson’s disease.
“Everybody is doing something else, but Parkinson’s…not many people are (fundraising for it),” says Walter
He has currently raised $1,000 for the cause. If you would like to donate, you can visit Walter and Giant’s go fund me page.
