Incidents of domestic abuse on men often go un-reported

July 15, 2020

Domestic abuse of women has been in the public eye for many years. The extent of the comparable issue of domestic abuse of men is not as well known and understood by the general public.

According to Statistics Canada, men are abused in relationships a lot more than we think.  A 2018 study shows that the amount of police-reported partner violence does not vary much by gender.  However, Bill Kaye, Project Manager with the Domestic Violence Action Team says when it comes to overall numbers, men make up only fourteen percent of the incidents

Levi Cox, a domestic abuse survivor says that he was attacked and strangled for 68 minutes.  According to Cox, not every victim gets justice. He says prior to the start of the court trial, the accused died.
