Lethbridge College Technology Access Centre to grow AG industry

May 21, 2020

Lethbridge College received one of the most significant research grants in its history. The institution received one of six new Technology Access Centres. The $1.75-million five-year renewable grant will be used to create the Integrated Agriculture Technology Centre.

"We will focus on three key research areas — priority to large scale crop reduction, agriculture, and web processing. They cover quite a range of different sectors," says Dr. Kenny Corscadden, Lethbridge College Associate Vice President Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

"Having that here is really going to help us impact the local agriculture community, but it's also going to be accessible provincially and nationally," adds Megan Shapka, manager of the IATC and Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

According to college officials, southern Alberta’s agriculture sector generates $1.1-billion to the economy each and every year.
