Lethbridge Hurricanes, Jake Elmer lighting up the WHL score sheet

March 6, 2019

The Western Hockey League has announced that Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Jake Elmer is the WHL On the Run Player of the Week.

With a win tonight against the Brandon Wheat Kings, the Lethbridge Hurricanes will clinch a playoff spot. Tonight is the team's final home stand, and forward Jake Elmer is looking for his 13th consecutive goal.

Elmer has tallied 73 points in 63 games, sitting 16th place in WHL scoring. His teammates and coaches spoke today about the forwards success.

"Lots of his shots are finding the back of the net so if we just get him the puck, he'll score goals for us. He's been really good for us lately and creating so many chances." says line mate Dylan Cozens

Goalie, Carl Tetachuck added that "When (Elmer) is playing good, our whole team is playing good so it works out for us, and he's been on fire lately."

"For whatever reason a this time of year, some twenty year olds really step up. He's done a great job with that and it's helped us win a lot of games for sure." says forward, Jordy Bellerive

In 199 career WHL regular season games, Elmer has tallied 126 points (61G-65A), including eight power-play goals, six short-handed goals and eight game-winning goals.
