Lethbridge moves toward modernizing cycling rules

April 10, 2019

Adam St. Amant, Transportation Engineer for the City of Letbridge, said the city is taking steps to correct an obsolete bylaw: a licence plate for your bicycle.

Bylaw 3515 was last amended in 1986, but it’s still on the books that “Any Police Officer may seize a bicycle to which a valid licence plate is not affixed.”

St. Amant commented, saying that “this bylaw has been renewed with help from public input, and it is in line with the current practices around the country. The changes will help reflect what many residents have been asking for.”
