Lethbridge Welcomes New Fire Chief

June 13, 2019

There’s a new chief in town. The City of Lethbridge is getting ready to say goodbye to outgoing Fire Chief Rich Hildebrand, while making way for Deputy Chief Marc Rathwell to take over the duties of overseeing the Lethbridge Fire Department and EMS. Rathwell officially began his duties as chief this past Monday and Hildebrand will remain with the department until August when he retires.

With May being the month of Sexual Violence Awareness, Lethbridge College brought in a speaker from Edmonton to educate the Sexual Violence Action Committee on ways to support victims of workplace harassment.

"Really, we just need to start from a place of believing people who come fourth with allegations of sexual harassment—it's the first step. When we act with disbelief, we make people feel unsupported, and unwilling to share more about what happened," says Sexual Violence Prevention educator Derek Warick

According to Canadian Business, 43 percent of women and 12 percent of men say they have been harassed at work.
