Local Pastor Says Spiritual Leadership is Important for Canada

October 11, 2018

Sunday is national clergy appreciation day, part of the larger appreciation month running until October 31st. Rector Stephen Barbour of Via Church Lethbridge says their clergy lifestyle is one of commitment to care and around the clock, heartfelt hours.

With May being the month of Sexual Violence Awareness, Lethbridge College brought in a speaker from Edmonton to educate the Sexual Violence Action Committee on ways to support victims of workplace harassment.

"Really, we just need to start from a place of believing people who come fourth with allegations of sexual harassment—it's the first step. When we act with disbelief, we make people feel unsupported, and unwilling to share more about what happened," says Sexual Violence Prevention educator Derek Warick

According to Canadian Business, 43 percent of women and 12 percent of men say they have been harassed at work.
