One of the largest security breaches in Canada's history

July 30, 2019

Close to six million Canadian's personal data may have been compromised following a massive data hack at credit card company Capital One. One million social insurance numbers were allegedly exposed.

The Privacy Commissioner in Canada has been in contact about the incident and the two are engaging. No word yet on if an investigation would be launched. Federal Finance Minister, Bill Morneau, says, however, he has asked the head of the agency that oversees financial institutions to look into it. The data breach also affected around 100 million American customers making this one of the largest security breaches of a major US financial institution in history. Pic Courtesy: Capital One.
