Ontario banned cellphones in classrooms

November 6, 2019

Earlier this week the PC government in Ontario banned cell phone use in classrooms for students.

If you have spent any time with teenagers, you know this would be difficult to enforce. According to Lethbridge school boards director of technology Jessie Sadlowski, Alberta schools do not currently mandate whether or not students can bring cell phones into the classroom.

"How cellphones are being used in the classroom is typically a teacher-by-teacher basis. Some schools may have some general rules around cellphones for example. They can't be in a room where there's testing. They can't be used during certain times of the day."
