Fifty years ago the very first Southern Alberta Summer Games were hosted in Pincher Creek. From archery to soccer, the games provide an opportunity for people of all ages to compete. To celebrate the milestone, the games will return to Pincher Creek, with a handful of events and activities taking place.
"(We're) staying with the same structure that's always been to keep with the times, but then we're changing it up to add an athlete village. Every day around noon there's going to be yoga in the park. A couple of nights there's movies in the park and live music—stuff like that. There's going to be an alumni region, so if you've competed in the Southern Alberta Summer Games for Lethbridge but say you now live in Calgary, you can come back," says Lethbridge's Regional Director Jordan Calladine
Registration to volunteer for the games is now open. You can do so by simply visiting southern Alberta games.com
