Reaction to city not renewing the School Bus Operations contract

November 26, 2019

The city of Lethbridge is looking at ways of having schools operate their own buses rather than the city.

City Council voted not to renew the School Bus Operations contract with the Lethbridge School Division and the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic School Division. This means there is a potential that parents would be charged user fees. For this school year the school divisions anticipate paying around $2.8-million for Yellow School Bus Services and administration. There is also 67-thousand spent on charters for field trips and almost 174-thousand for Access-A-Ride.
