Tax break for volunteer firefighters

January 23, 2020

The town of Coaldale is offering tax breaks to encourage people to serve as volunteer firefighters. The town is offering a one thousand dollar property tax rebate for those who want to help battle the blazes.

Business that allow volunteers to  respond to emergency calls while at work are eligible for a tax rebate of up to two-thousand dollars. Fire officials say the town has had a challenge maintaining a steady group of volunteers. Coaldale currently has 31 firefighters but has been trying to get that number up to around 40.
