The LPS Watch program a step in the right direction for Criminal Justice students

May 17, 2019

Walking 10 hours a day, four days a week, that’s what dozens of volunteers have been doing since the beginning of May.

In fact, one Watch program volunteer estimates he’s put about 240 kilometres on his boots walking the streets of downtown Lethbridge in an effort to keep the streets safer. But step by step, it's getting criminal justice graduate, Jiaxi Liu closer to his dream.

“I want to be a police officer, I want to help people,” he says.

The Lethbridge Police Service’s Watch program, began May 1st, and since its inception, some downtown businesses say they feel like the area is much safer.
