University of Lethbridge features online convocation for graduates

June 24, 2020

Graduates of the University of Lethbridge were not able to walk the stage this year due to the novel coronavirus. As Micah Quinn explains, the University is switching graduation festivities to an online version for graduates. They will receive a convocation box filled with lots of goodies. The online convocation will be taking place all this week.

Monday featured convocation box opening videos and student stories. Tuesday featured stories, and faculty congratulation videos. Wednesday featured medal winners.

Kathleen Massey talked about the medal winners, and says, "Each year there are a handful of students that have done exceptionally well. Believe me, it's very hard to choose those winners because there are a lot of outstanding students. Some of them win Governor General's awards. Some of them win awards from other organizations, and from within the University. The winners receive their medals today. Today we're actually profiling the medal winners on our website, and on social media."

Thursday will have more convocation videos from the President and Chancellor of the University of Lethbridge. On Friday there will also be more convocation stories, and a wind orchestra will be playing with a bagpipe player too. For fans of virtual events, there will be a reunion virtual event going on.
